PN532 is a versatile 13.56 MHz frontend that speaks NFC Forum protocols, not only classic MIFARE UID reads.
Supports ISO14443A/B and FeliCa subsets depending on library. Mode switches via onboard jumpers (I2C/SPI/HSU). In the classroom, treat PN532 NFC / RFID Module (I2C/SPI) as a intermediate part using I2C / SPI / HSU. Typical India street price is about ₹250–₹500. Always verify voltage and pin labels on your exact module — silk screens vary across clones. Start with a datasheet or trusted learn guide, power the part correctly, share GND with the MCU, and test with a simple blink/read sketch before building the full project. Measure voltages with a multimeter when something fails, and keep actuator current off the MCU regulator.
Set jumpers to I2C, Adafruit_PN532 begin(), readPassiveTargetID().
