Concept
Current-chopping STEP/DIR driver with adjustable Vref — same idea as A4988 with more headroom.
A little theory
Set Vref from datasheet formula involving sense resistors. Microstep pins M0–M2. Heat sink required. Decay modes affect noise/heat. In the classroom, treat DRV8825 Stepper Driver Module as a intermediate part using STEP/DIR + microstep. Typical India street price is about ₹100–₹220. Always verify voltage and pin labels on your exact module — silk screens vary across clones. Start with a datasheet or trusted learn guide, power the part correctly, share GND with the MCU, and test with a simple blink/read sketch before building the full project. Measure voltages with a multimeter when something fails, and keep actuator current off the MCU regulator.
