Arduino Mega 2560 is a larger AVR when UNO runs out of pins or flash — common for 3D-printer shields, CNC, and multi-sensor robots.
ATmega2560 offers 256 KB flash, 8 KB SRAM, 54 digital pins, 16 analog inputs, and four hardware UARTs. Logic is still 5 V CMOS like UNO. Extra serial ports (Serial1–3) leave USB Serial free for debug while GPS/GSM use other UARTs. Pin current limits are similar; never exceed regulator/USB budget for motors. In the classroom, treat Arduino Mega 2560 as a intermediate part using Many GPIO, 4× UART, I2C, SPI. Typical India street price is about ₹700–₹1600. Always verify voltage and pin labels on your exact module — silk screens vary across clones. Start with a datasheet or trusted learn guide, power the part correctly, share GND with the MCU, and test with a simple blink/read sketch before building the full project. Measure voltages with a multimeter when something fails, and keep actuator current off the MCU regulator.
Program exactly like UNO (Board → Mega 2560). Map shields carefully — RAMPS and CNC shields expect Mega pinouts.
